Walt Disney WorldDisney-MGM StudiosMay 1989As the theme park most closely tied to Disney's roots in animation, Disney-MGM Studios (soon to be known as The Former Disney-MGM Studios) is truly the heart of Walt Disney World. The Studios is more than just a theme park -- it's also a real, working movie studio that includes a building where hand-drawn cartoons were once made and an ever-shrinking back lot where, at one time, The Golden Girls television show was filmed. If you ask politely, a cast member might even show you the actual sound stage from which Let's Make a Deal broadcast for a few months. It's pure Hollywood magic!
